Healthy Families Illinois

Healthy Families Illinois provides intensive home visiting services to families in order to create a relationship with the family that promotes healthy child development, strengthens the parent-child relationship, and supports parents as children’s first teachers and care-givers.  Home visiting services focus on supporting the parents, parent-child interaction and child development.  Families may enter the program when the woman is pregnant and before the infant is two weeks old.

Target Population:

Pregnant Women and Women with Infants 2 weeks old or less may enter the program and remain in the program until the child is 3 years old.  Families who qualify for the program are screened and their scores indicate a potential risk for child abuse or neglect in the home.

Program Goal:

To prevent child abuse and neglect through education and information regarding child development during and after pregnancy, as well as through coaching and modeling.
