Healthy Families Illinois
Focuses on educating and counseling families from pregnancy up to 3 years of age. The goal of this program is to prevent child abuse.
Healthy Families Illinois provides intensive home visiting services to families in order to create a relationship with the family that promotes healthy child development, strengthens the parent-child relationship, and supports parents as children’s first teachers and care-givers. Home visiting services focus on supporting the parents, parent-child interaction and child development. Families may enter the program when the woman is pregnant and before the infant is two weeks old.
Pregnant Women and Women with Infants 2 weeks old or less may enter the program and remain in the program until the child is 3 years old. Families who qualify for the program are screened and their scores indicate a potential risk for child abuse or neglect in the home.
To prevent child abuse and neglect through education and information regarding child development during and after pregnancy, as well as through coaching and modeling.
